This pristine wilderness area is located on the south Pacific Coast of Costa Rica, in the province of Puntarenas. It is 157km south of the city of San José and 7km south of the city of Quepos, between Damas and Matapalo. With one of the most impressive landscapes in all of Costa Rica, the world-famous Manuel Antonio National Park has some of the best white sand beaches in Costa Rica, and green foliage amidst great mountains.
Here you will have an endless number of activities to do, from hiking on the park’s trails, to kayaking excursions around the coast and the Mangrove, horseback riding, zip line tours, white water rafting, canyoning down pristine waterfalls, or some world class sport fishing departing from Marina Pez Vela. Manuel Antonio is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Costa Rica, although it is one of the smallest National Parks, it is among the most visited, thanks to its easy access and diversity in ecosystems.
The Manuel Antonio National Park is located in the very humid tropical forest living area. Protects patches of primary forest, secondary forest, mangrove, beach vegetation, marine environments, islands and a 14-hectare lagoon. The most characteristic species of flora within the primary forest are the guácimo colorado, the pylon, the cedar mary, the white guapinol, the surá, the black guapinol, timber tree in danger of extension, milky, cenízaro and ceiba.
Between the most outstanding fauna, we find the raccoon, the pizote (coatimundis), the guatuza, the two fingered sloth, white face monkeys, felines of considerable size and the tití monkey, sub species endemic of the park and that is in danger extinction due to the destruction of their habitat.
